Our Design Process

At Longlet Drafting and Design Co., we follow a clear, structured process to ensure your project moves smoothly from concept to completed plans. Each phase is focused on clarity, communication, and buildable results.

1. Initial Consultation

We begin by discussing your goals, vision, site information, and any inspiration or requirements you have for your project. This can be done over phone, email, or in person depending on your location.

2. Schematic Design

In this phase, we develop the initial concept of your project. We explore layouts, design ideas, and basic spatial planning. You’ll receive early drafts such as:

  • Preliminary floor plans

  • Conceptual site layout (if applicable)

  • General design direction for review

This phase is all about big-picture thinking and getting the foundation right before diving into technical details.

3. Design Development

Once the schematic design is approved, we refine it into more detailed drawings. At this stage, your project starts to take shape on paper with greater accuracy and scale. This phase may include:

  • Updated floor plans with dimensions

  • Exterior elevations

  • Roof plan

  • Basic material and design notes

4. Construction Document Development

This is where we finalize the drawing set needed for permitting, quoting, and construction. These plans are drafted with the builder and code requirements in mind. Depending on your project scope, your full construction set may include:

  • Final floor plans

  • Foundation plan

  • Roof plan

  • Exterior elevations

  • Wall sections

  • Relevant structural and construction details

  • Site plan (as applicable)

  • General notes and dimensions

These plans are designed to be buildable, clear, and comprehensive—giving you the power to get competitive bids and ensure accurate construction.

5. Final Review & Delivery

You’ll have the opportunity to review the completed plans. Minor revisions can be made if needed. Once approved, the final drawing set is delivered in PDF format (or CAD if requested), ready for use by your builder or local permitting office.
